Installation
Install from the Chrome Web Store
- Open the extension listing in the Chrome Web Store.
- Click Add to Chrome and confirm.
- After install, (optional) pin the extension icon from the Extensions menu for quicker access.
Uninstall / Disable
You can remove the extension from Chrome using the official Chrome Web Store instructions:
- Right-click the extension icon and choose Remove from Chrome, or
- Open Extensions → Manage extensions and click Remove.
Usage (Gmail)
- Open Gmail in your desktop browser and start a new email (Compose).
- Locate the Safemails.Net controls added by the extension in the compose window (button/panel/menu).
- Choose the option to encrypt (or enable encryption), then send your email.
- If the extension provides a decrypt/reader flow for recipients, follow the on-screen instructions included in the received message.
Tip: If you don’t see the Safemails.Net UI, try reloading Gmail (Ctrl+R / Cmd+R) and verify the extension is enabled in chrome://extensions.

Troubleshooting
Extension does not appear in Gmail
- Refresh Gmail and ensure you are using a desktop Chromium-based browser with extensions enabled.
- Open
chrome://extensions→ verify Safemails.Net is enabled. - If your organization manages Chrome policies, check whether extensions are restricted by admin policy.
Install button missing / cannot install
- Confirm you are signed in to Chrome with an account allowed to install extensions.
- Try installing from the Chrome Web Store listing again.
How to share diagnostic info with support
- Send the date/time of the issue and a short description of steps to reproduce.
- Include your browser version and OS.
- If safe to share, include a screenshot of the extension UI (avoid sending sensitive email content).
